JOYOUS JUNE TOY HAUL

KENNER BULL ALIEN LOOSE

Another month down and busier than usual my JUNE toy haul was not posted until a week and a bit into JULY… doh. First up is a 90’s Kenner Bull Alien that I used to own back then, that is still in really nice condition and the head butt and head tilt gimmicks/buttons still work.

It’s a really cool toy that I made fun of on release, but have grown weirdly nostaglic for. I like that you can pick up and mess about with it – and it doesn’t shatter in your hand like NECA Aliens do.

Next a couple of Transformers, Legacy Laser Optimus Prime, who is fairly decent out of box but underwhelming. And Kickback, whose bug mode is forgettable (and inferior to both the G1 and Titans Returns bug mode).

LEGACY KICKBACK TRANSFORMERS

But Kickbacks bot mode is gorgeous, and the form he will staying in on my cons shelf.

Next a mixed lot of vintage TMNT I picked up for a fair price on ebay. Chromedome (far right) and Panda Khan (middle) I have never owned before. Already got Usagi, but this one may be in better condition. General Traag  on the left and Metalhead the shiny chome Turtle are troop builders, I now have 3 of each, and could do with one more to complete a little unit for them.

TMNT LOT1

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – the movie and toys were out earlier this year and I finally managed to find the Biplane toy (online) from the JAKKS line that was not in any stores all year, and a Sonic movie 3-4″ fig that also I could not find anywhere.

SONIC MOVIE FIGURE AND PLANE

While the wing struts were made of thinner weaker plastic that is sensible, once assembled the plane is fairly sturdy. I had to heat up the struts with a hair dryer for several minutes as they kept popping out and likely had changed their shape a little once they cooled off from the injection molding process, then went through various temperatures during long weeks of shipping.

The Sonic biplane includes the two mini-figures, but is sadly not play worthy in my book, a kid would break this in five minutes. A shame as this is a kid toy line (not a collector line) and the body of the plane is VERY solid and durable, but those struts are quite fragile.

Couple of dinos I picked up at BIG W as part of their pre-sale toy rollout. Quetzalcoatlus was a very nice find, the stores had heaps and I have not been able to find any online at all.

QUETZALCOATLUS JURASSIC WORLD TOY DINO

A small Dimetrodon and a medium sized Ankylosaurus – both are supremely gorgeous sculpts. MATTEL are really knocking it out of the park with their JURASSIC lines which provide beautififul dinosaurs, gimmicks that work and don’t ruin the toy for display purposes, are kid and adult friendly, and are mostly at affordable prices.

ANKYLOSAURUS DIMETRODON JURASSIC WORLD

The last dino of the month is a Tricetops as I gave away my old one to the rather excellent Analog Toys channel and was kind of missing having a Triceratops in my JP / JW collection.

Some new stock of toys meant I was able to find this very nice Fisher Price League of Superpets Krypto. The Superman is nice, but I don’t want it. I was just after the Krypto who also comes in a much larger walking battery version. Rarely do we get toys of Krypto, and I’ve wanted one for years. It’s a beautiful piece that is easily my TOY OF THE MONTH.

For some reason in the same line they gave Batman a bulldog (and not the actual Ace the Bat HOUND) and Wonder Woman… a PIG. WTF!

wonder woman hideous figure and a pet pig too wtf

I get it’s a kids movie and going to be full of simple easy visual jokes, but fuck me it’s disrepectful to give a legacy character like Wonder Woman a pet pig. Not that pigs are not beautiful (and highly intelligent, more so than dogs) but a weird/stupid choice in my book. Also the Wonder Woman figure was hideous and looks nothing like any known version of Wonder Woman.

From the Bluey line I picked up this derpy eyed Unipony and it’s a lovely static piece to go with the other Bluey figures.

Some more Sylvanian Families sets that were on sale – this one being the Baby Tree House that I have not opened yet and will have to find again out in the back room and open later today.

On the new shiny and sometimes blue shelf – Unipony with pink poodle, out of focus Lazer Prime, and the superb Krypto. That’s it for this months cool toys.
